Tips for Making Great Smoothies with Orgain Protein Powder

The recipes below call for you adding the protein powder in your blender like other ingredients. Here are some tips for making the most of your shake recipes.

Tip 1: Add some nutritious fruit

We know that Orgain vanilla bean protein powder can be used in all sorts of recipes, but when it comes to smoothies, we recommend adding some nutritious fruit like apple, banana or berries (blueberries, raspberries). These will not only add sweetness and flavor, but they’ll also boost your intake of vitamins.

Some varieties of orgain (such as the Orgain Organic Protein Powder) don’t have any sweetener, so adding fruit such as a frozen banana will help sweeten your shake.

If you find it’s still not sweet enough, try a healthy sweetener such as honey, stevia or maple syrup to sweeten those protein smoothies. I also enjoy Whole Earth Sweetener with collagen peptides.

Tip 2: Boost with healthy fats

Adding fat to your smoothie will help keep you fuller for longer and give you more energy. Some great options are avocado, nuts (such as almonds), peanut butter, almond butter (or other nut butter) or coconut milk. You can also substitute protein powder and water for something like cashew milk if you want to add some healthy fats to your smoothie.

Tip 3: Add a liquid base

The protein powder is great as a standalone ingredient, but you can also add other liquids to your smoothie for extra flavor and nutrients. Some of our favorites are almond milk, soy milk, hemp milk or coconut water. Experiment with different flavors and see which ones you like the best.

If you’re watching your carbs and/or calories, you could just use water as the base for your smoothies, or use a low-carb nondairy milk (I like Simply Almond unsweetened for a low-carb smoothie).

Tip 4: Throw in Other Superfoods

Don’t feel like you can’t customize one of these smoothies. You can throw in matcha, cocoa powder, maca powder, chia seed, rolled oats, greek yogurt or any other superfood you like (I love hemp seeds in my smoothies!).

I would definitely add a green like spinach to the recipes below that don’t have any greens, but that’s just because I love them so much! Feel free to throw in a bit of something green in there. 😉 Learn how to measure greens here.

Now that we’ve given you some tips on how to make the perfect orgain vanilla protein powder smoothie, let’s get to the recipes!
