Panera Smoothies Recipe Guide

So now that we know what’s in the official smoothie recipes, let’s take a look at recipes that are considered “copycat” recipes so you can DIY your smoothie at home if you can’t make it to your local Panera (you do have a local Panera? I hope so!).

Many of these recipes have the option of fresh fruit or frozen fruit, so use whichever is best for you. Note that you will need fruit juices for most of these.

Let’s take a look at the best Panera smoothie recipes ideas!

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Copycat Recipe from How To Nutrition – this recipe uses frozen strawberries, skim milk, ripe banana, a scoop of vanilla frozen yogurt and ice to replicate this delicious smoothie. It’s a great option.

Green Passion Smoothie

Panera Green Smoothie Recipe from Desire Recipes – this copycat recipe does a great job at getting close to the same ingredients as the original! It uses baby spinach, ripe peach, magoes (fresh or frozen), passion fruit juice, white grape juice and ice. Sounds heavenly to me. Spinach gives it that beautiful green color, not to mention it makes for one tasty treat.

Mango Smoothie

Panera Low-Fat Mango Smoothie from Food.com – this delicious smoothie uses fresh mango, fresh squeezed orange juice, banana, low-fat vanilla yogurt, honey or agave and ice. It’s a pretty close replica!

Peach and Blueberry Smoothie with Almond Milk

Blueberry Peach Almond Milk Smoothie from My Wife Can Cook – this recipe uses frozen peaches, frozen blueberries, orange juice, almond milk and banana to make a decent Panera smoothie replica. I’d throw in a bit of frozen mango if you are looking for all of the ingredients in the original smoothie.

Strawberry Smoothie

Copycat Panera Strawberry Smoothie Recipe – this copycat recipe from Desire Recipes uses frozen strawberries. banana, plain Greek yogurt and orange juice for a super similar smoothie combination. Yum!

Tips for Blending Perfect Panera Smoothies

1. Use frozen fruit to get the same consistency as the original smoothies.

2. If you don’t have access to fresh or frozen mangoes, apple puree is a decent substitute.

3. For low-fat versions of these smoothies, use skim milk instead of yogurt and almond or coconut milk for added creaminess.

4. If you want a sugar-free version, use stevia or another sugar substitute in place of the grape juice concentrate.

5. Use fresh squeezed orange juice for a vitamin C boost!

Common Questions about Panera Smoothies Recipe and Copycat Recipes

What does Panera use in their smoothies?

As you can see from the ingredients lists above, the key ingredients in most Panera smoothies are fruit, dairy products like yogurt or milk, and sometimes juice. So it’s not surprising that these are the same ingredients you’ll find in popular copycat recipes for Panera smoothies.
Panera is committed to using natural and whole ingredients in their food and their smoothies are no exception.

What is considered a “copycat” recipe?

A copycat recipe is one that mimics a popular restaurant or food product but is made with ingredients you can easily find in your local grocery store. These recipes are often shared online and they make it easy to replicate your favorite foods at home without having to go out to the restaurant.

Are there any major differences between copycat Panera smoothie recipes and the official Panera smoothies?

Not really – copycat recipes are often very similar to the original because they use the same key ingredients. Some people like to experiment with adding different flavors or substituting certain ingredients for others (like using almond milk instead of dairy milk, for example).

Does Panera use real fruit in their smoothies?

From what we can tell, yes! Panera is committed to using whole and natural ingredients in all of their food, including their smoothies. So you can expect to find real fruit in every smoothie you order.

Do I need a blender to make these copycat recipes?

Yes, you will need a blender to make most of these recipes. Some of them call for a food processor or immersion blender instead though if you have one of those on hand. But in most cases, the best way to get a smooth consistency is by using a high-powered blender like a Vitamix or Blendtec.

Is Panera strawberry smoothie healthy?

Yes, Panera smoothies are quite healthy! They use natural ingredients like fruit and dairy, and they are low in calories if you stick to their recommended serving sizes.

Does Panera add sugar to their smoothies?

There is no added sugar in Panera smoothies, but some of the ingredients used do naturally contain a small amount of sugar. This means that there are roughly 20-30 grams of sugar per serving in most Panera smoothies. If you’re concerned about this amount, you may want to try making your own copycat recipe at home, where you can control the amount of sugar that goes into your smoothie.

Do Panera smoothies contain any artificial flavors or colors?

While we haven’t yet found official information on this topic, it is likely that most Panera smoothies do not contain any artificial ingredients like flavors or colors. This is because they use natural ingredients like fruit and dairy, which don’t require any artificial additives. However, it’s always best to check the ingredient list on your smoothie before ordering, just to be sure.

How many Weight Watchers points are in a Panera smoothie?

Even though fruit is zero points on the WW plan, when you blend the fruit into a smoothie it does count for points, so be careful because those points can add up fast! So while Panera is a great place to go while on WW, be aware that the strawberry banana smoothie has 9 points, the green passion smoothie has 10 and the mango is all the way up to 14 on the Personal Points system (which might vary by individual so check your WW app).

One of my favorite things about making smoothies at home is how easy they are to customize. You can add bulk to your smoothie with steel cut oatmeal, sweeten with a couple of tablespoons honey, add peanut butter for healthy fats and protein, and many others. Smoothies are a good way to easily get in a full serving of fruit (or two!) in a single meal.

As you can see, there are many recipes available for DIY Panera smoothies. And while some may argue that the copycat recipes aren’t exactly the same as the official Panera smoothies, they are close enough in taste and ingredients that you won’t be disappointed. So go ahead and give them a try! We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how easy and delicious they are to make at home.

So the next time you want a Panera smoothie but you can’t get to the restaurant for some healthy food, blend up an easy smoothie at home. You can still go to the restaurant and enjoy a smoothie while you munch on some bread bowls (yummmmm), but when you can’t get there, DIY a Panera smoothie!
